| Green Efforts This year we are implementing new systems to lessen any negative environmental impact of the Midland Community Center’s Dow RunWalk on our beautiful city. This year we are: Partnering to give runners the opportunity to drop off their old shoes for reuse at the Packet Pick-Up & Expo, Health & Fitness Fair and the Midland Community Center.
- Offering runners reusable race bags at Packet Pick-Up provided by Meijer
- Offering runners t-shirts made from 100% Organic Cotton as opposed to a 50/50 blend.
- Prompting runners and walkers to register for races online.
- Utilizing in office recycling for all race related items (i.e. printing, cardboard etc…)
- Collection & utilization of email addresses again this year to continue to reduce our paper and printed advertising needs for next year's race.
- The use of recycled paper whenver possible.
- Asking runners, walkers and spectators to please be aware of the space around them. Help us keep Midland beautiful and green by putting trash in proper receptacles.
- Using lead/sweep cyclists versus automobiles (provided by area cycling clubs)
- Providing opportunity to recycle D-tags and Race Bibs, post-race
- Partnering to give runners the opportunity to drop off their old shoes for reuse at the Packet Pick-Up & Expo, Health & Fitness Fair, and the Midland Community Center
- Recycling water bottles post-race with the help of Midland Volunteers for Recycling
